In opening words cited in the programme for Primavera’s new production of Howard Brenton’s Bloody Poetry () the playwright states he wanted to remind people of “England’s radical, republican tradition” as “Thatcher set about shredding it”. So he chose to dramatise sections of the lives of Lord Byron and Percy Bysshe Shelley in self-exile, post-Waterloo, in Switzerland and Italy. The poetry slams at the Beastly Beans coffeehouse always drew crowds, but this Blake Belladonna person must have been someone special. A bird Faunus in Ilia's line ordered a mango smoothie, so she constructed a frozen masterpiece in a blender and sloshed it .

Over the summer, Tori Cárdenas’ poetry manuscript, “Lengua,” was selected as a Write Bloody Poetry Book Contest Finalist. Tori’s lyrical work focuses on language, culture, colonization, and the home as both physical structure and natural environment. This book has been created as an inspiration by a poetry of Lyubov Yakimchyck. Poetry which showcases us long-long winter, that has not stopped since , when the war broke out. Scratching, howling of wind, red-hot steel that burns pages of unwritten stories, paths that have not led people to destinations and vibrating tension.

From Locomotion — Poetry As Fiction Group Home Before Miss Edna’s House. The monsters that come at night don’t breathe fire, have two heads or long claws. The monsters that come at night don’t come bloody and half-dead and calling your name. They come looking like regular boys going through your drawers and pockets saying.   This English edition of The Bloody Sonnets will hopefully go a long way to ensuring this important Slovak poet is finally recognized for his contribution to anti-war poetry more than one hundred years after he poured his heart into this cycle—his last great poetic project. Translator John Minahane has taken on a formidable challenge here.

It's not a bad book, just a bit blah with mostly walking and talking and, except for the very beginning and the very end, little action.
